Under Rule 2.2.3R of the FCA’s Conduct of Business Sourcebook, Somerset Capital Management LLP (the “Firm”) is required to include on this website a disclosure about the nature of its commitment to the UK Financial Reporting Council’s Stewardship Code (the “Code”). The Code is a voluntary code and sets out a number of principles relating to engagement by investors with UK equity issuers.
The Firm invests in Emerging Market and Frontier Market equity securities. Investments in UK equity securities (which have emerging or frontier market exposure) form a small part of the Firm’s investment universe. The Code is therefore not relevant to the majority of the Firm’s trading. While the Firm generally supports the objectives that underlie the Code, the Firm has chosen not to commit to it.
Somerset Capital Management LLP is developing an engagement policy to meet the requirements of Rule 2.2B.5 of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Conduct of Business Handbook. The policy will be disclosed on this web-site once finalised.
